A seasoned real estate person graduated from Liverpool John Moores University, UK and a member of a Royal Institute of Surveyor Malaysia (RISM), Surveyor Fakru Radzi has a solid 18 years of experience in the real estate industry in various organization. He has completed transactions worth more than RM 3 Billion over the years. This MARA alumni made tremendous breakthrough during his 9 years of consulting most years with Colliers International.
After concluding over RM1 billion worth of property transactions during his 5 years in Amanah Raya as Head of Investment and responsible for the acquisition of 15 properties by the AmanahRaya REIT (among others) that is worth RM6.5 billion, he was headhunted to join CIMB Investment Banking’s pioneer Real Estate specialist team. After a short stint in CIMB IB, he was invited by PKNS to establish the Asset Management Department responsible for all strategic planning of management and investment in real estate under PKNS Group. The department now has become a commercial entity called PKNS Real Estate Sdn Bhd (PREC). He is the first appointed CEO of the company.
Under his stewardship, commercial assets of PKNS has transformed to become more vibrant and lifestyle-relevant through value creation exercises. He has managed this portfolio for almost 3 years and successfully showing growth of about 10%.
For spearheading PREC and overseeing its growth to performance, he was recently been awarded “Young CEO of The Year” at the Selangor Excellence Business Awards 2016. He coveted the same “The Most Promising CEO of PKNS Subsidiary” in 2014. On that same year PREC was awarded “3rd Best Managed PKNS Subsidiary” after only 2 years in operation and being the youngest subsidiary in PKNS. Other recognitions received are from Dewan Perniagaan Melayu Malaysia Selangor, which he is now an Honorary Fellow, and American Leadership Development Associations (ALDA).
He continues the inspiration to promote talents among the youth and Bumiputera entrepreneurship by organizing various events/projects/ campaigns. One of his successful initiative was introducing a micro-retailing concept called ‘Tempat Orang Lokal’ which is becoming a model for other shopping mall owners to follow. The continuous efforts in social responsibility by PREC in has been recognized given an award of ‘Excellence in Community & Entrepreneur Advancement’ by Asia Pacific CSR Council & United Nations Global Compact. He was also recently appointed as Chairman for the Board of Trustees for Pertubuhan Kebajikan Projek Ihsan which organizes free tuition for the urban poor.
Over the years of involvement in real estate industry, he has exposure to property market in London, People Republic of China, Singapore, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia and Qatar which he has under due diligence for projects been proposed. He shares his knowledge and wisdom in speaking engagements via roadshows, conferences and property summit organized by Malaysian REIT Managers Association, PEPS, ASLI and FIABCI. In years to come the portfolio of PREC to grow to RM2 billion from active investment by the company.
